Antitrust studying possible law breaches in Lenovo repair services

MOSCOW, Mar 10 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service is analyzing possible curbs of competition while servicing electronics by Lenovo on the local market with a preference given to big federal chain retailers, the watchdog said Friday on its Web site.

The service received a complaint on violation of the antimonopoly law by Lenovo East Europe/Asia, a Russian branch of Chinese giant Lenovo, and by authorized service centers of Lenovo.

“The Federal Antimonopoly Service is analyzing the circumstances described in the application, and gathering additional information. In this regard, we are asking companies to notify the service of all known facts of breaches of the antimonopoly law in sales and servicing of Lenovo electronics,” Andrei Tenishev, director of the authority’s anti-cartel department, said.

The company’s attitude could prove existence of a possible anti-competitive agreement between service centers, Lenovo East Europe/Asia and chain retailers.

Small and medium-sized companies could find themselves in unequal conditions with chain retailers.
